Meet Maddy.

What do you do?
I am in Sales, Visual Merchandising and Operations!

My favourite part of working for Smoke+Ash is… We have a very
small team, therefore we all work
closely together everyday. I love that
because we have an intimate work
space I get to dip my hands into so
many aspects of the business- I’m
constantly learning and seeing the store evolve. My creative voice is always encouraged here, so that’s also a big plus.

My personal style is...Constantly
evolving, I like a mix of minimal, natural and feminine aesthetics. Blush, creams and crisp white’s fill my wardrobe-I’m trying to incorporate more colour as I keep finding myself attracted to items with pops of embroidered cherry red and mustard yellows.

My favourite recent meal was… I have a ton of tricky dietary restrictions so I don’t eat out much- an easy and worry-free favourite of mine is the ‘Toronto maki roll’ from HoSu Bistro. (I enjoy this maybe too much.)
My worst fashion crime was… Wearing chunky knit wool socks with Birkenstock’s in my Summer Camp counselor days…. Just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t make it appropriate…. Ever…. I also went through a phase thinking I could get away with wearing Nike Air Force One’s with my high school uniform. This didn’t fly with the Principal at my private school, we were only to be wearing black mary janes and so she called me out in the middle of an assembly. I don’t think my friend’s from that time will ever let me forget that choice either!
My go-to wardrobe staples are… White lace everything, bell sleeved tops and my wedgie fit Levi’s.
My top 3 style inspirations are... Alexa Chung + Mia Farrow And always- Michelle Pfeiffer as Titania in the 1999 adaptation of a Midsummer’s Nights dream.
My favourite Instagram accounts are… @plants_in_seinfeld @jooleeloren @saipua @floretflower
The most played songs in my itunes are…I have a very eclectic taste in music, like anyone it depends on my mood. Right now I am listening to a lot of PUP, New Swears, Pkew Pkew Pkew, A Tribe Called Quest, Noname, Sylvan Esso and Craig Finn. The song ‘Adult Diversion’ by Alvvays will always hold a special place in my heart.
